Short answer: if you only want to find and cancel recurring card charges, use Rocket Money ($7–14/mo) or your bank's built-in subscription manager, which is increasingly free. If you need simple renewal reminders for a small business, Trackado or Expiration Reminder (from $49/mo) do that well. If legal drafting and e-signatures drive the purchase, that's contract software: ContractSafe ($450+/mo) or Concord ($499+/mo). If enterprise IT needs to discover thousands of SaaS licenses automatically, that's Zylo or Torii. And if you want one system for everything that renews — the subscriptions you sell and the ones you pay for, with AI reading the paperwork — that's the gap Subscriptions Manager fills, from $19/mo.
The market, honestly: four kinds of tools (plus your bank)
Consumer trackers — Rocket Money ($7–14/mo pay-what-you-want, plus 35–60% of first-year savings if their concierge negotiates a bill down), Monarch ($99.99/yr), Copilot Money ($95/yr, Apple-first), Bobby ($2.99 one-time, manual). They link to your bank, detect recurring charges, and help you cancel. What they can't see: anything that never hits a card as a tidy monthly charge — insurance, domains, SSL certificates, business licenses, warranties, registrations.
And a big 2026 shift: your bank probably does the basics for free now. Visa's mandate requiring European issuers to offer in-app subscription viewing and cancellation took effect April 18, 2026; Visa began rolling its Enhanced Subscription Manager out to North American issuers this summer; Mastercard has offered Smart Subscriptions since 2024. If "see my card subscriptions and cancel a few" is your whole problem, check your banking app before paying anyone.
Renewal & expiry trackers — Trackado (free for 1 user/15 contracts, then $49/$159/$369 per month with ~20% off annual billing), Expiration Reminder ($49–$499/mo, scaling by tracked items, users and SMS), KnowRenewals (pricing unpublished), and 2026 newcomer Resubly (free for 5 subscriptions, then $99/mo flat). Purpose-built reminders at SMB prices. Trade-offs: user/contract caps that compound as you grow, and little AI, analytics or API depth.
Contract platforms (CLM) — ContractSafe (re-tiered in 2026: $450/$660/$815 per month, unlimited users, billed annually), Concord ($499–$1,299/mo flat including 5 users, then $49–89 per user — and credit where due, they ship their own MCP connector for AI assistants), Juro, and enterprise suites like Ironclad and DocuSign CLM at roughly $10K–$150K+/yr. Deep legal workflow: drafting, redlining, e-signature, approvals. They're buyer-side repositories, priced for legal teams, and AI-extraction accuracy is a recurring theme in public reviews of the category.
SaaS-spend management — Zylo (enterprise, quote-only; added a consumption/AI-spend product in April 2026), Torii ($2.50/employee/mo, $250 floor), Cledara, Vendr. They auto-discover company software through SSO and finance integrations and optimize licenses. Software only, though — and worth knowing: Zylo's own 2026 SaaS Management Index found 79% of IT leaders hit price increases at renewal in the past 12 months. Renewals are where the money leaks.
Who should use what — by situation
- You want forgotten card charges found and cancelled for you. Rocket Money — or your bank's free subscription manager. Don't pay for breadth you won't use.
- Your renewals live in the real world — car insurance, home warranty, DMV registration, a domain, an LLC annual report. A card-charge tracker can't see these. Subscriptions Manager Personal ($19/mo, 2 seats, 50 renewals) is built for exactly this; Bobby ($2.99 once) works if you have a handful and don't mind manual entry.
- You run a small business and just need renewal reminders. Trackado ($49/mo) or Expiration Reminder ($49/mo) are honest, focused tools. Pick SubMan Business instead when you also sell subscriptions, want AI to read your contracts and invoices, or expect to outgrow per-tier caps.
- You sell subscriptions or recurring contracts. This is a renewal-pipeline and MRR/ARR problem, and it's SubMan's home turf ($99/mo or 1% of managed subscription value). Note: a billing engine (Stripe Billing, Chargebee) charges the cards — it doesn't chase the renewal conversation. Many teams need both; they are different jobs.
- Legal or procurement owns the purchase, and e-signature/drafting is the requirement. Concord or ContractSafe at the SMB end; Ironclad or DocuSign CLM at enterprise scale. SubMan is not an e-signature tool.
- Enterprise IT with thousands of licenses and shadow SaaS. Zylo or Torii — automatic discovery through SSO/expense feeds is their superpower and we don't pretend to replace it.
- You want one honest system of record for everything that renews, both directions. That combination — ~75 renewal types, sell-side + buy-side, AI document extraction with confirm-before-create, an AI copilot, a developer API + MCP — is what Subscriptions Manager uniquely combines, at $19/$99/$399 transparent pricing.
The cheat sheet
| Tool | Entry price (Jul 2026) | Choose it when… | Skip it when… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your bank's manager | Free | Basic card-charge visibility & cancel | Anything beyond card charges |
| Rocket Money | $7–14/mo | Concierge cancel + bill negotiation | Non-card renewals; anything business-side |
| SubMan Personal | $19/mo | Every renewal you pay for, incl. insurance, domains, DMV, warranties | You only care about card charges |
| Trackado / Expiration Reminder | $49/mo | Simple SMB renewal reminders | You need AI extraction, revenue reporting, or room to grow |
| SubMan Business | $99/mo or 1% MSV | You sell subscriptions and/or want sell+buy in one, with AI + API/MCP | You need e-signature workflows |
| ContractSafe / Concord | $450 / $499 per mo | Legal repository, drafting, e-sign | Budget is SMB; you need the sell side |
| Zylo / Torii | Quote / $2.50 per employee | Enterprise SaaS discovery & license optimization | Non-software renewals matter too |
Questions we actually get
Do I still need a subscription tracker now that banks show my subscriptions?
For card charges, maybe not — that's genuinely becoming a free banking feature (Visa EU mandate since April 2026, North American rollout underway, Mastercard since 2024). But bank tools stop at the card feed. Insurance, domains, SSL, licenses, warranties and registrations never appear there — and neither does anything you sell. That's the part that still needs a real system.
Is Rocket Money worth it in 2026?
For its actual job — finding and cancelling forgotten card charges, with a negotiation concierge — yes, it's good at that. Budget for the 35–60% first-year-savings fee on negotiated bills, and don't expect it to see anything beyond the card feed.
What's the difference between managing subscriptions I sell and ones I buy?
Selling is a revenue problem: contracts, renewal pipeline, MRR/ARR, churn. Buying is a spend problem: licenses, vendors, reminders. Billing engines charge cards; trackers watch spend; almost nothing does both sides — that dual-use is the core of how we designed SubMan (Trackado, to its credit, also covers both, more lightly).
